The year 2009 was a tumultuous one in the auto industry. The automotive industry was buffeted by fierce ill winds associated with the deepest economic recession in living memory. The pressures wrought on the industry by dramatically lower vehicle markets were considerable and there were some unprecedented events. The industry, however, also showed signs of its ability to adapt to harsh conditions. One year on from our annual review of 2008, in which we commented was 'one of the most significant years the auto industry has experienced', here's a round-up of the highlights from 2009 - 'the tumultuous one'.
