Application Lifecycle Process Integration: IBM Rational And HP

Ovum’s vision for application lifecycle management (ALM), encompassing solutions designed to produce business results, is a distinct shift away from traditional views of ALM as integrated software development lifecycle tools. In our previous report, ALM: applying a business process-oriented paradigm, we proposed that ALM be delivered as discrete business solutions that encompass the functionality of one or more tools. We specified solution that areas address broad process goals relating to software project direction, software warranties, business priorities, business agility, product innovation and enterprise security. This report provides an evaluation of how IBM Rational and HP Software address these ALM business solution areas.
