Annual Perspectives on Open Source: From Fundamental Market Change to a New Frontier
Saugatuck Technology, Jan 2010, Pages: 4
In 2007, the authors made a series of statements and issued several Strategic Planning Positions (SPPs) regarding growth, change, and the future of open source software. In December of 2008, we reviewed our positions and found most of our expectations had been met, and many had been wildly exceeded.
This Strategic Perspective reviews key 2008 end-of-year positions, provides an update on where things stand today, and offers our expectations as to where they are heading. Fundamental market changes are now in place, but they have resulted in a “new frontier” of opportunity and management challenges for vendors and users.
