BMC extends BladeLogic Provisioning Capabilities with Acquisition of Phurnace Software
Enterprise Management Associates, Jan 2010, Pages: 3
On January 7, 2010, BMC Software, Inc. (NYSE: BMC), a leading provider of enterprise management solutions, announced that it has acquired Phurnace Software. Phurnace is a privately-held provider of application, configuration, and deployment management solutions for J2EE physical, virtual, and Cloud environments. BMC also announced that Phurnace Software Deliver, the company’s flagship product, is immediately available for purchase as BMC BladeLogic Application Release Automation.
This is a significant addition to the BMC BladeLogic suite, adding deep J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) configuration and deployment capabilities across heterogeneous platforms. Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) believes that this is an excellent move for both BMC and Phurnace, and that customers from both companies will benefit. It also effectively positions BMC to compete not only with traditional data center automation vendors such as CA, HP and IBM, but also with virtualization vendors like Citrix and Novell.
