IBM Acquires Intelliden in a near Perfect Fit for Network Change Automation
IBM’s February, 2010 acquisition of Intelliden for network change automation is a smart, well-calculated move that supports IBM’s capabilities for service and infrastructure provisioning, as well as its broader strategies for “Integrated Service Management.”
The acquisition should resonate most strongly with Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and MSPs, where IBM with Tivoli OMNIbus and Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager, and Intelliden with its R-Series platform, have long established strengths. But the announcement will also positively impact IBM’s strategy in enterprise and government accounts, especially those requiring automation across large, complex network infrastructures. It may also interest Network Equipment Manufacturers seeking a reliable and scalable alternative to internally developed software and a patchwork quilt of partnerships.
