In 2009, the product sales revenue of Chinese communication equipment manufacturing industry totaled CNY 748.62 billion, 1.34% decrease over 2008; the growth rate was reduced by 6.14% YOY. By the end of 2009, the total assets of Chinese communication equipment manufacturing industry was CNY 643.40 billion, increasing by 14.23% YOY; the growth rate was raised by 4.85% YOY.
In 2009Q4, owing to the financial crisis, the telecommunication expenses of consumers saw obvious decrease and the operation revenue of operators also declined greatly compared with that in the same period of 2008; however, the operation revenue of operators was increased significantly on the month-on-month basis and the capital payment capacity was enhanced progressively. Affected by the overall business operation, the competition pressure of operators is increased. With the further commercial application of 3G, the demand growth of network creation and the promotion by competition, three major operators enlarge the cost on communication equipment and enhance the demand for communication equipment.
Besides the 3G network construction, optical communication is also one investment focus of Chinese communication equipment industry. In 2009, the demand for optical network, optical fiber and optical cable was raised.
In 2009, the export of major products in Chinese communication equipment industry was improved. In 2009, Chinese export amount of handset telephones and car-mount radio telephones reached USD 39.56 billion with the YOY growth rate of 2.7%.
