In 2009, the sales value of Chinese special equipment manufacturing industry for environmental protection and social public security was CNY 133.39 billion, rising by 17.71% YOY; the sales value of Chinese discarded resource and waste material recovery and processing industry reached CNY 121.76 billion, increasing by 16.97% YOY, realizing the highest growth rate in this year.
The comprehensive environmental utilization industry is a large sub-industry in Chinese environmental protection industry. In 2009, the major products in Chinese comprehensive resources utilization industry all realized the YOY growth with the rising growth rate. In 2009, Chinese discarded resource and waste material recovery and processing industry acquired the sales revenue of CNY 121.6 billion with the YOY growth rate of 24.42%; Chinese metal scrap processing industry received the sales revenue of CNY 107.28 billion with the YOY growth rate of 22.45%; Chinese non-metal scrap processing industry acquired the sales revenue of CNY 14.34 billion, growing by 41.44% YOY. Though it only accounts for a small proportion in the comprehensive environmental treatment industry, Chinese non-metal scrap processing industry still realized a high YOY growth rate.
In 2009, among Chinese environmental protection equipment manufacturing sub-industries, only the sales revenue of the manufacturing industry of special medicament material for environmental pollution treatment saw YOY decrease while that of other sub-industries maintained the YOY growth rates above 10%.
Since March 2009, the growth rate of the fixed assets investment of Chinese environmental management industry begins to exceed that of the last year. Moreover, the YOY accumulative growth rate maintains over 60%. In 2009, the fixed assets investment of Chinese environmental management industry came up to CNY 120.44 billion, rising by 65.2% YOY; the growth rate was raised by 42.5% YOY.
In 2009, the production of Chinese special equipment for environmental protection, environmental monitoring equipment and solid waste treatment equipment reached 209,400, 132,600 and 22,200, rising by 13.39% YOY, 15.79% YOY and 232.94% YOY respectively. The production decrease rate of Chinese special equipment for water pollution prevention and treatment saw continuous decline, falling from 70.96% in April to 21.15% at the end of December. The production of Chinese air pollution prevention and treatment equipment was 80,700 with the YOY growth rate of 28.07%.
The environmental protection industry is a strategic emerging industry and a new economic growth point, assuming high development potential. The aggregate output value of Chinese energy-saving and environmental protection industry is expected to exceed USD 700 billion in 2020. China will focus on the energy-saving and environmental protection industry to develop the low-carbon economy, supporting the development of energy-saving and environmental protection industry from policy, key projects and service system, etc.
