Spokane, WA Market Overview
HealthLeaders Interstudy, July 2011, Pages: 44
The provider segment of the Spokane healthcare market is roiling with change as its two health systems consolidate rapidly and form competing integrated delivery systems. Physician groups, worried about the financial toll of healthcare reform in the form of reimbursement cuts and inability to afford the cost of implementing electronic medical record technology are looking for health system partners to help them absorb those costs. There also is movement among providers toward development of reimbursement models that would produce shared savings for providers in exchange for improved efficiency and outcomes. Managed care organizations have not seen a large decline in enrollment, but continued premium increases could hamper enrollment growth. Small groups are seeking to redesign their plans to try to reduce the rate increases that remained in the double-digit percentages this year.
