This research finds that, affected by the global financial crisis, worldwide desktop PC motherboard shipment volume saw significant declines in 2009, with the mature markets taking the heaviest blow. Instead, the emerging markets have become the main growth driver for worldwide motherboard shipments. Looking ahead to the development of the industry in 2010, since the decline in the mature markets is expected to surpass the growth in the emerging markets, it is forecasted that the worldwide motherboard shipment volume will inch down in 2010, though on a smaller scale compared with 2009.
