End-to-End Application Management Issues and Trends, 2010
Enterprise Management Associates, Jan 2010, Pages: 19
In an effort to further investigate the challenges of application management, EMA conducted a survey in Quarter four of 2009 on end-to-end application management challenges, concerns, and solutions. This paper presents the survey findings in detail.
Application performance and availability are no longer simply technical concerns. They have become business concerns as both IT and Line of Business (LOB) executives begin to equate enterprise management toolsets and application quality. Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) research reveals that 'investigating ways that automation can add efficiency to support practices' is the number one way that executives dealt with the budget limitations imposed by the economic slowdown.
The manual application support practices of the past are being supplanted by management solutions, an evolution by necessity. Applications have simply become too complex to manage without adequate toolsets. Companies attempting to 'throw staff' at application-related problems are finding the cost is too high. Often, application quality is unacceptable as well. This paper discusses these challenges in more detail and highlights the ways in which companies are solving them with application management solutions.
