Indian Natural Gas Industry, 2011
Credit Analysis & Research Limited, Sep 2011, Pages: 221
Natural Gas has changed the energy industry in India. It is one of the most sought after fuels because it is economical, efficient and eco-friendly when compared to alternative fuels. Gone are the days when Natural Gas was flared or re-injected into the reserves to maintain the pressure. Today it is being used to run power & fertilizer plants, refineries etc.
Huge demand is forseen for natural gas, but constraints on the supply side and infrastructure have restricted the take-off. The 2011 ‘Indian Natural Gas Industry’ answers the questions related to the industry like the demand potential, probable production, import dependency and the quantum of gas deficit.
Natural Gas in India is still not matured and has a long way to go. Due to the lack of gas infrastructure, in terms of pipeline & LNG terminals, the true potential of natural gas in India is still unknown. Furthermore, new unconventional sources of natural gas such as shale gas, which is at a very nascent stage in India would further add impetus to the industry. This report has a dedicated section for Shale Gas. Each of the parameters are thoroughly analysed for better insights into the industry, including the economics of shale gas in India.
The report gives valuable insight into the industry, encompassing the basics of natural gas, its uses, comparison to alternate fuels, its production process, etc. It also outlines the structure of the natural gas industry in India, includes a SWOT analysis, pricing structure, policies and regulations and their implications, segment-wise demand, source-wise supply, gas infrastructure, gas utilisation policy, etc.
The report also provides CARE Research’s forecasts of domestic gas production, sector-wise demand potential, gas allocation and deficit as well as forecasted LNG imports till 2013-14. The report goes into minute details of each power, fertiliser and petrochemical plant to gauge the potential demand and into minute details of each source/gas-field and LNG terminal to gauge the potential supply and LNG imports respectively.
The company section provides detailed profiles of key players in the industry with a major portion of revenues derived from production and/or distribution of natural gas. The report also gives other useful data related to the industry as an annex to it.
