On March 15, Blue Coat Systems introduced a new family of virtual WAN Optimization appliances for the branch office. Rather than provide a virtualized environment for consolidating other branch office functions on its physical turn-key appliances, Blue Coat virtualized its own solution to run on standard servers, offering a flexible and cost-effective solution that will appeal to restricted branch office budgets. The new virtual WAN optimization platform is designed to lower branch office operating costs, help consolidate equipment in the branch, and simplify administration and management tasks.
