Major Appliances: Mapping the Road to Recovery - World
Euromonitor International, March 2010, Pages: 37
Key Findings in this Report:
- The negligible global blip in volumes and values hides the story of diverse fortunes of major appliance markets. Impact of exogenous and endogenous shocks played out differently, and to varying levels of severity, across the global appliance markets.
- Excluding the BIICs (Brazil, India, Indonesia and China), the global consumer appliances market will not recover to pre-2008 levels until 2013. Including them, unit volumes will recover in 2010.
- Company performance has and will continue to be affected by brand positioning, consumer attitudes and unit pricing. During 2009, dishwashers, perceived as non-essential, and range cookers, highest unit prices, were the worst affected categories.
- Companies with an over reliance on the North American or Western European markets were most susceptible to declines in volumes and ranking in terms of global major appliance players.
