Australia saw a dramatic rise in the number of FttH operators throughout 2007, and this is continuing into 2008. The deployment of FttH in greenfield estates is a dramatically growing industry; but while the design of a fibre solution can be seen as a rather simple task, having it designed correctly and then operated effectively and with long term success is quite a different matter. Currently in Australia and New Zealand there are fifteen different FttH operators with various levels of experience and capability. In March 2010 new legislation was introduced in Parliamant that will see all new housing sites te be either be supplied with FttH networks or being made ready (pit and pipe) for easy deployment of that infrastructure. This report provides a detailed overview of these operators, as well as a detailed overview of FttH pricing and an interesting case study of a retirement village.
