India wireless capital expenditure spending is forecasted to decrease slightly by 0.7% in 2010 after declining 22.2% in 2009, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research titled “India Cap Ex Analysis 2009-2012.”

The spending levels for wireless capital expenditures vary drastically between the new entrants and the top players by USD $1billion. The publisher forecast that the decline in 2010 is primarily due to the delays in the 3G spectrum auction that are currently expected to be completed before the end of May 2010.

Due to the continuous delays by the Indian Government and the DoT, operators cut back on spending in 2009. Unfortunately, even if the industry experiences a snap back in demand, the wireless ecosystem will need some time to ramp up production. With nearly half of 2010 over, the publisher believes that the increase in cap ex spending will spill over into 2011. GSM/W-CDMA remains the region’s dominant technology as CDMA cap ex spending dropped to below 30% in 2009.

The report includes detailed analysis for 15 mobile operators in India across all 23 telecom circles including: Aircel, Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Etisalat Telecom, HFCL Infotel, Idea Cellular, Loop Telecom, MTNL, Reliance Communications, Sistema Shyam, S Tel, Tata Teleservices, Uninor, Videocon Mobile and Vodafone Essar.
