Toshiba is aiming to strengthen its position in the global nuclear power market. The company has been involved in an “acquisition and joint venture” phase in a move to meet its existing and future client’s requirements domestically as well as internationally. In collaboration with its subsidiary Westinghouse Electric Company LLC., the company has already gained expertise in the Boiling Water Reactor and Pressurized Water Reactor markets. Recently, the company has announced plans to acquire Springfields Fuels. Toshiba is planning to have a partnership with IHI Corporation which further strengthens its position in the manufacturing of equipment for the nuclear sector. In collaboration with its subsidiary, Westinghouse, Toshiba announced its plans to form a new joint venture company named Advance Uranium Asset Management Company that would focus on uranium fuel marketing and sales. The company along with Westinghouse currently is planning to develop its front end of the nuclear power business, focusing on uranium production, conversion, enrichment and fuel fabrication. Toshiba has an objective of expanding its nuclear business in the longer-run.
