The authors ongoing research shows that customer IT organizations are increasingly adopting Cloud Computing offerings to address two significant challenges: Managing costs and facilitating their support of an increasingly dynamic business / economic environment. In this Strategic Perspective, we offer insights into one potentially unrecognized cost factor for IT organizations to consider when selecting / evaluating Cloud Computing alternatives; and what this factor implies for vendors of Cloud offerings.
