Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) are those generators which are used in wind mills to convert the kinetic energy of the wind directly into the electrical energy.
Wind Turbine Generators are a bit unusual, compared to other generating units which are ordinarily found attached to the electrical grid. One reason of being so is that the generator has to work with a power source (the wind turbine rotor) which supplies very fluctuating mechanical power (torque).

The Wind Turbine Generator market has shown an enormous growth in the industry during last few years. With the environment-friendly generation of the power awareness spreading around the world, the Wind Turbine Generator market is expected to grow enormously. In the US, it is expected to be the second largest source of electricity by 2020.

By introducing power electronics, many wind turbine generator systems can be converted into power plants. Even though with respect to the control performance they are faster, the real or active power (Power that results in the net transfer of energy in one direction is known as active power) is produced depending on the wind available. In some systems the reactive power (the portion of power flow due to stored energy, which returns to the source in each cycle, is known as reactive power) can be delivered in the absence of the wind as well. With power electronics, the produced power can be controlled and maintained during the excessive wind flow.

The report forecasts the size of the Wind Turbine Generator market over the period 2009-2013. It segments the market into three geographic regions: Americas, APAC and EMEA; representing the market size and forecast for each of these regions. Further, it discusses the key market trends, drivers and challenges of the WTG market, and profiles some of the key vendors of this industry.
