Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is a system designed to automatically read, recognize and store license plate number of vehicles passing through a certain point. It utilizes optical character recognition software and hardware, capable of reading one number plate per second of vehicles running at a speed of 160 km/hr. Further, ANPR is used to monitor traffic, enforce traffic rules and regulations, collect electronic tolls, etc. The necessity of real-time traffic data, advanced vehicle monitoring, and enforcement of safety regulations of Traffic Surveillance systems is driving the demand for ANPR systems in the market.
