The national State of Cable survey tracks the service, programming and technology attitudes and behavior of cable/satellite subscribers and non-subscribers. Since 1993, the national State of Cable survey has tracked the service, programming and technology attitudes and behavior of cable/satellite subscribers and non-subscribers. This is THE definitive study about consumers and the pay TV business, often imitated and never replicated.

This annual study is a 'must read,' providing tracking and analysis of current and emerging issues and trends in the delivery of programming and technology to the home.

The 17th annual State of Cable & Digital Media™ survey was conducted in January/February 2010.

- 1,003 interviews among heads of TV households, including multi-channel (cable, satellite, FiOSTV and U-verse TV subscribers) and non-multi-channel subscribers.

- Stratified random sample of consumers using cable systems as the primary sampling unit.

- One hundred (100) sampling points (i.e., cable systems) were chosen at random with probability of selection in proportion to homes-passed.

- Every cable subscriber and non-subscriber in the United States with a telephone was insured of an equal probability of selection.

- Within each sampling point, a random digit dial (RDD) sample was generated from the telephone exchanges covering each cable system.
