iET Solutions ITSM and Software Asset Management News
Enterprise Management Associates, June 2010, Pages: 4
iET Solutions (iET) - a well-known, mid-tier service desk solution provider - announced a new release of its core technology, iET ITSM 5.1, in May of 2010. iET is also spreading the news about its significant development efforts in the area of software asset management (SAM). The company introduced iET License Entitlement Center in the fall and is now promoting it along with the new release of iET ITSM 5.1. iET now has a two-pronged approach to the market with its roots in ITSM and its new capabilities in SAM. The two functional areas are fully integrated, but can also stand alone.
An excellent move in terms of real IT requirements, as managing IT expense has been top-of-mind especially over the past 18 months and SAM is a strong means for trimming IT budgets often without impact to service quality. This strategy opens up market opportunity for iET, as SAM is a market segment where Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) sees strong market growth. In The Changing Face of Asset Management: Merging Asset, Service, and Financial Management, an EMA research study, 70% of all participants indicated that software license management is either important or very important to strategic IT asset management. A majority, 80% of the participants, also indicated that software license costs and their management were important or very important.
