Netwatcher is a monthly network technology strategy journal consisting of three or four major articles on technology developments, market developments, product innovations, market research, and market forecasting. Each article is designed to provide planners and managers in the network technology space with critical information needed to plan products and services whether as a producer or as a consumer.
Netwatcher has been published continuously since 1982, and is reported by the Library of Congress to be the oldest continuously published private network technology journal in the US.
Netwatcher is an unusual publication in that it is a combination of in-depth analysis of current market issues and in-depth analysis of technology. This is not a light-hearted romp through trivial analysis of press releases. Many of the individual issues are 30 pages or more long, and individual articles are often five or six pages, which is longer than most professional journal articles. Because of a very short publication cycle, the topics are up-to-date with the developments in the marketplace, both enterprise and service provider
Issues are made up of three or four segments. Each month, the issue offers a Management Briefing on the recent events in the telecom industry and marketplace, and two technical sections (Strategies and In the Know) dealing with details of a technology, product area, or market area. Approximately three times per year, the fourth section, Market Area Focus, provides an in-depth look at market conditions in a given service or product area, including some market forecast data.
Once each year, in December, the Annual Technology Forecast is published, a detailed examination of the business, technical, and regulatory issues that will shape the industry in the coming year. This issue is much in demand, and it is recommended that you subscribe in November or earlier to insure your subscription will be processed in time to receive this important issue.
Important - Netwatcher will cease to be published with the June 2014 issue.
We will accept new subscriptions pro rata to that point, and process renewals with the subscription cost adjusted for the June 2014 termination. SHOW LESS READ MORE >
1. Market Area Focus: What is “behavioral networking” and what are “behavioral services”? We look at what's likely the next-generation opportunity in the services space.
2. Management Briefing: A month rich in tactical messages about market and technology directions can also yield a few long-term insights!
3. In the Know: The FCC's activities are always badly covered, and appeals of them are handled even worse. We take an objective look at the meaning of the DC Court of Appeals decision in the FCC versus Comcast.
4. Strategies: The good news is that we are going to get fixed-mobile convergence. What for some is the bad news is that it won't be something that evolves from current PSTN practices and infrastructure.
