India's Best Colleges 2010
Living Media India Limited (India Today), June 2010, Pages: 37
This annual survey of colleges and institutes offering arts, science, commerce, law, engineering and medicine to identify the best colleges in their respective fields is in its 14th year. A team of The Nielsen Company partnered with the authors worked on a formula based on a perception score (from an opinion poll conducted among academic experts) and a factual score (from the factual data furnished by colleges) to determine the best undergraduate colleges in India in these six disciplines. For arts, science and commerce, colleges in 12 major cities—Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune—were considered while for engineering, medicine and law, colleges from all over the country were considered.
In this dynamic educational environment, the Best Colleges rankings reflect where Indian higher education stands today. Our rankings are the established benchmark for quality education and it also lets us know what is required. The purpose of these rankings is never to merely keep score but to reveal where there is real change and development. Now in its 14th year, the Best Colleges rankings are now virtually an institution in themselves, both as a comprehensive database for undergraduate education in the country and as a trend-spotter.
