Business Monitor International's Poland Consumer Electronics Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, electronics associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Poland's consumer electronics industry.

Poland’s consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices, mobile handsets and video, audio and gaming products, is estimated at around US$5.8bnin 2010. This is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.7% to US$7.2bn by 2014, driven by the growing popularity of digital lifestyle products as well as rising incomes and lower prices. Poland’s consumer spending bounced back in March 2010, with consumer electronics one of the product categories enjoying a strong rebound. Sales of many consumer electronics devices took a negative turn in 2009, with a sharp deceleration reported in sales of some core product groups including mobile handsets, TV sets and desktops. Spending will remain under pressure in 2010 due to high unemployment and economic uncertainty, but BMI that growth opportunities will be provided by premium products such as flat-screen TV sets and smartphones.
Computers

Computer hardware accounted for around 44% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2009, with demand from key verticals such as government and military. BMI forecasts Polish domestic PC sales of US$2.1bn in 2010. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2010-2014 period is forecast at about 9.1%, driven by demand for notebooks and netbooks.

AV Devices
AV devices accounted for around 37% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2009. Poland’s domestic AV device market is projected at US$2.1bn in 2010. Due to declining total sales of video products, a CAGR of 2.6% is projected for 2010-2014, despite continued growth in the flat-screen TV set category in 2009.

Mobile Handsets
Mobile handset sales accounted for around 17% of Poland’s consumer electronics spending in 2009. Polish market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% to US$1.3bn in 2014, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 130%. Sales will be dominated by the replacement market, with growing demand for smartphones and 3G handsets. Competition following launches by two new operators in 2009 should help to drive replacement sales.
