The purpose of the market research is to describe the situation on the Russian market of road - building machinery, to provide relevant information on production, consumption and market conditions, as well as of the changes that occurred in 2009
The market road construction equipment is one of the most dynamically developing ones. But the world financial crisis affected it very heavily and the market volume of road construction equipment in Russia in 2009 amounted to 3.5 billion USD, which is 13% less than in 2008. In 2010, improvement is expected.
In 2009, as a result of the changes in the external conditions of the economic crisis because of the macroeconomic situation, the majority of machine-building enterprises are faced with a whole set of problems. First of all, a sharp drop in the demand for their products due to insolvency of buyers. There is a slowing down of payments and an avalanche growth of non-payments. There was an accumulation of finished goods in warehouses in the first half of the year. The difficulty of obtaining resources in banks to ensure continuity of production in the second half of the year, as well as their considerable appreciation were also some of the probles, the industry is feeling in the recent years.
The largest drop in production occurred in the “Chelyabinsk Tractor Factory - Uraltrak” (597 bulldozers and pipe layers, which amounted to 24.3% of amount in the same period of 2008 - 2458 pcs). In the production of graders the largest drop occurred in the CJSC “Chelyabinsk Factory for Road Construction Machinery” ). It produced 116 machines, which amounted to 29.1% of the amount from January to December 2008 (399 pieces). In the production of excavators, the largest drop occurred in the OJSC “Machinery Building Company KRANEKS' (14 pieces, which amounted to 5.2% of the amounf of the analogical period in the previous year - 267 excavators) and OJSC 'PO 'Elabuzhskij Automobile Factory” (41 pieces, which was 7.3% of the amoung of the same period in 2008 - 564 excavators).
