The report presents actual information about the market of ceramic tiles and slabs and its state in June 2010.

The purpose of the marketing research is to describe the situation on the Russian market of ceramic tiles and slabs, to provide relevant information on the volume of production, imports, and exports, consumption and state of the market, as well as the changes that took place in this market in 2009.

The upward trend of production of ceramic tiles and slabs (including granite), established in recent years (growth rates in 2006 - 123%, in 2007 - 114%, in 2008 - 107%), was replaced by a deep decline in 2009 - production dropped by 21% relative to the previous year. Only in February 2010 there was an increase of production, compared to February 2009 by 2%. The seasonal production of tiles is small, because most of the ceramic tiles are tiles used for interior decoration, so the work does not depend on weather conditions, as with the construction activities in general, and the demand does not have seasonality character.

The structure of production is dominated by floor tiles, which in 2009 occupied 54.1% in physical terms, as well as tiles for interior wall coverings (45.7%). The share of facade tiles in the total production of ceramic tiles is negligible and amounted to 0.3% in 2009.
The enterprises used for the production of ceramic tiles are located in all Federal Regions except the Siberian and the Far East, whose needs are provided with products from other Regions, as well as the imports of ceramic tiles and porcelain. Leading positions in the Russian market are taken by the companies: OJSC “Stroyfarfor” and “Kerama Marazzi”. They are large holdings, having in their structures several industries.
