The aim of the research is to describe the situation on the Russian roofing materials’ market, to present actual information about production volumes, exports, imports, consumption, and state of the market, and also previous changes in 2009.
Market volume of roofing materials in Russia in 2009 can reach about 1,200 million square meters, or 17% below the previous year’s level. Under the influence of the crisis there is a structural change in the market - firstly, entry in the consumption of soft roll-out materials; secondly, the amount of slate is lowered; thirdly, metal roofing. Recently entered the market of roofing materials, the metal roofing method ("euroshifer", metal tiles, etc.) is still significantly inferior to the most popular methods on sales volumes.
At present, in Russia there are more than 50 manufacturers of roofing materials. By the end of 2009, most companies faced a rise in warehouse stocks of finished products. Companies are working "at the warehouse”, waiting for better market conditions. By reducing the volume of production of roofing materials with 15%, sales actually declined by 18-22%.
