The primary objective of this study is to measure brand perceptions of tools and technologies currently at the forefront of stem cell research. Stem cell researchers' preferences are assessed for five categories of technologies: bio-imaging and microscopy, cell biology tools, immunochemicals, molecular biology tools, and protein biochemistry tools. Additionally, the study measures researchers' current and future plans for stem cell research as well as their perceptions of equipment manufacturers. One hundred and fifty seven customers of tools and equipment for stem cell research participated in an extensive on-line survey.

Biomedical research that elucidates stem cell differentiation is enabling the discovery and development of therapeutics for the treatment of numerous diseases. Now, more than ever before, researchers are commencing, broadening, or accelerating their examination of stem cells. President Obama’s March 2009 executive order lifting the ban on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research was quickly followed by National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines for human stem cell research and its December 2009 approval of xx human stem cell lines for research.

For new stem cell insights to continually emerge, the biomedical research community demands constant support from life science research tool suppliers. Additional advancements in stem cell research are unattainable without innovative and cost-effective technologies that deliver reliable and reproducible results. With superior customer service and a wide portfolio of high quality and valuable products, life science research tool suppliers can have an enormous impact on stem cell research progress
