Single Line Subscribers:

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. mobile phone consumers has only one mobile phone device. Of these single line subscribers, roughly one-quarter has interest in owning a second mobile phone, for the primary purpose of having a second personal line. Yet, price is the primary reason these “two-line subscriber wishers” have not purchased a second mobile device.

Given the desire of some single line subscribers to have a second mobile device, it is no surprise that nearly one-quarter of single line subscribers has at least moderate interest in having a second phone number added to their single mobile device.

Multiple Line Subscribers:

More than one-third of U.S. mobile phone consumers has more than one mobile phone device. The primary reason for carry multiple phones stems from separating business and personal phones.

Among these multiple line subscribers, nearly a majority has at least a moderate interest in combining phone numbers to a single mobile device – owing to ease of carrying a single mobile device (as opposed to two or more).
