The publication National Accounts of OECD countries, Volume II gives detailed national accounts for each OECD Member country and Euro area.
These data are compiled according to the 1993 SNA ‘System of National Accounts 1993’, jointly prepared by the Commission of the European Communities, the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations and the World Bank. A new version, ‘System of National Accounts 2008’ has been issued. It has already been implemented in Australia and will progressively be implemented in the other countries.
In 2005 and 2006 most OECD countries allocated the financial intermediation services indirectly measured (FISIM) to industries and institutional sectors. This is one of the two majors methodological changes made by many OECD countries, the other being the introduction of chained volume measures. There are two ways of estimating volume measures: the traditional fixed-base estimates and the chained ones. Henceforth, OECD countries use chained volume estimates. Only Chile and Mexico use fixedbase volume estimates which are not directly comparable with chain volume estimates. The type of volume measures used by each country is indicated at the end of country tables.
This publication covers the period 1997-2008 and for some countries shows provisional data for 2009. The Secretariat made estimates of some main aggregates (identified by an asterisk *) when the data were not supplied by the country. The electronic version of this publication contains, when they are available, longer time series back to 1970.
National accounts aggregates are presented, in national currency (in euro for the Euro area countries), at both current and constant 2000 prices. For the Euro area countries, the data for all years are calculated using the fixed conversion rates against the euro.
