Highlights of this title
High fuel prices in 2008 negatively impacted fuel consumption in Finland, but naturally increased the value of service station fuel sales. Registered diesel vehicles and diesel consumption are on the increase. As with the other Scandinavian countries, Finland has a large and growing unmanned network dominated ABC and St1.
Neste is the service station market leader in Finland, with the largest number of sites and biggest fuel market share. Teboil sites have the highest fuel throughput in the country, while ABC has shown the greatest rate of expansion over the past five years. Despite having the second largest network, St1 has the lowest average fuel throughput.
Just under half of all service stations feature a shop. Neste has the largest service station shop network and accounts for over a third of all stores in this channel. The penetration of car washes at service stations remains low, with roll over washes the preferred wash type. Many of the major fuel retailers have a private loyalty card.
