The credit crisis of 2008–09 led to a global economic downturn, which affected South Korea's export market. Growth dropped to 2.2% in 2008, and the country's economy barely averted recession by expanding at 0.2% in 2009. The country’s economy bounced back to register a growth rate of 6.1% in 2010.'
