Indian Mobile Telco Performance Highlights Need for Consolidation
Ovum, June 2010, Pages: 8
The last few quarters for Indian mobile operators have been characterized by slower revenue growth and falling margins. The positive impact of explosive subscriber growth is being mostly offset by lower call tariffs and low usage per subscriber. In this report, we analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) of Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone Essar that show rapidly shrinking revenue growth rates and profit margins. With forthcoming 3G and broadband wireless access (BWA) network rollouts, the market is ripe for consolidation as soon as the regulatory framework becomes more favorable to foster mergers & acquisitions.
