Prepaid has increased in importance since the start of recession, with many consumers switching from post-paid to prepaid services. Mobile network operators (MNOs) have responded to this shift by offering content-based IP services to their prepaid users in the hope of retaining these customers and driving ARPU growth. However, this is not the only dynamic impacting the prepaid market and MNOs will need to assess their next-generation charging strategies, particularly in relation to prepaid.
