Gerber Technology, a supplier of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems, has introduced a new version of YuniquePLM, its product life cycle management (PLM) software for the apparel industry. Lectra, another supplier of CAD/CAM technology, has introduced a new version of its PLM software for the apparel sector called Lectra Fashion PLM V2R2.
Advansa has introduced a softer and more supple version of its Thermo°Cool fibre, called Thermo°Cool Soft’Tech, while AFT Yarns has developed a new lightweight yarn which provides a high level of insulation as well as moisture management properties. Naturally Advanced Technologies (NAT), meanwhile, has completed the latest series of trials relating to the commercial production of Crailar Organic Fibers. Everest Textile has developed a high performance fabric which, it claims, is the “world’s lightest fabric” while AB Enzymes has introduced two new enzymes for use in low temperature finishing treatments for textiles and apparel.
In apparel developments, Eurotex Tekstil has become the first company to introduce a collection of seamless garments made from Advansa’s Biophyl fabric, which contains yarns derived from a renewable source. Onward Kashiyama has introduced a biodegradable suit which is able to break down in landfills in about one year. Canadian researchers have developed a range of prototype garments which are said to be capable of providing wearers with emotional support. And China Access Marketing (CAML) has become the first manufacturer of Thermo°Cool socks in Asia. Meanwhile, Anne Selby has introduced its Compleat Arashi Shibori pleating machine, which has been designed to provide a one-stop facility for the production of high quality pleated fabric products.
