The company offer its products and services to the US and international independent oil and natural gas companies, and national or state-owned oil companies. The company, together with its subsidiaries and technology centers, principally operates in North America,Latin America and Europe. Baker Hughes is headquartered in Houston, the US.
Currently, the company focuses on research and devlopment of existing products and services, the design of specialized products to meet customer requirements, and the development of new products, processes and services. In March 2012, Baker Hughes opened research and technology center in Dhahran, with a focus on research and development of new technologies for the potential unconventional resources. In October 2011, it also opened a new research and technology center in Rio de Janeiro designed to enable the development of technologies and solutions to unlock the potential of deep water and pre-salt reservoirs.
