E911 and NG 911: Expanding Intellectual Property Beyond Emergencies
Mind Commerce LLC, Aug 2010, Pages: 17
Enhanced 911 services is a tight ecosystem. There are a few leaders in control of all key customers. Each lead provider controls a niche that overlaps with other providers.
Whilst revenue for most of the leads is secure due to lengthy government contracts, the stock gains are negligible. There are options in portfolio restructuring for the leaders - acquire or develop new technologies and sales channels.
The current leaders - Intrado, TCS, Technocom, and Openwave - together have saturated the U.S. market with their solutions and have yet to build robust partner programs to broaden emergency service product lines which are core to their business strategy. It is in partner management where entrants into the ecosystem can flourish.
Readers will be guided through the most pressing issues of the United States' citizen activated emergency response system that is in place today and under development and deployment in the coming business cycles. The technology landscape and the applied use of E911 and NG911 location solutions will be reviewed along with case study for the potential to expand the technology into non-emergency applications. The leaders in the field will be scoped under detailed review, including their portfolio of products, management structure, M&A, along with potential for near-term success.
