Intersect360 Research InfiniBand: Increases in Speed, Usage, Competition
Intersect360 Research, March 2009, Pages: 3
Ten years removed from its introduction, InfiniBand has become the most frequently selected system interconnect for HPC. In addition, InfiniBand is increasingly implemented for LANs and storage in HPC environments, and adoption is also growing in applications beyond HPC. After a wave of consolidation, Mellanox became the chief provider of InfiniBand silicon. As 40 Gb/sec switches came to the market, QLogic expanded into that part of the value chain as well, creating a second source for InfiniBand chips. With InfiniBand penetration still on the rise, the market is robust enough to support the added competition.
