Central Asia: New Source of LPG for European and Asian Markets

RusEnergy, October 2009, Pages +: 90

0n 2008 exporters from the Central Asian republics had shipped more than 1 mln tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the OECD countries as compared with 590,000 tons in 2005. Over five years the volume of Central Asian deliveries had grown by 169%.

At the same time the overall LPG consumption in the OECD countries had grown from 28.8 mln tons to 30.7 mln tons, which is an increase of 9.38%. This means that the Central Asian LPG is capturing a greater share of the European market.

The combination of these two tendencies provides excellent opportunities for producing, processing, engineering, construction, transportation and marketing companies. In the period of five to ten years aggregate volumes of investments in projects seeking to increase LPG production in the Central Asian countries can reach the level of $2 bln.

This report discloses the mechanisms of participation in the LPG business and is aimed at managers of a wide range of companies. It presents the maximum information needed for decision-making in LPG business in the area, from identification of gas sources to potential marketing opportunities.

While general trends of this business in Central Asia have been revealed, specific information is presented separately for each country. All conclusions are based on facts and reliable figures.
