On July 28, 2010, Dell Computer, one of the best-known names in personal and data center computer systems, announced a partnership with network technology innovator Juniper Networks, and SecureWorks, a leading Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), to offer a comprehensive package of security management tailored for the mid-sized business. Offered as Dell Layered Security Solutions, this combination of technology and services offers a package unlike many others designed for the mid-market. In particular, Dell Layered Security recognizes two of the most glaring oversights often neglected by security offerings, regardless of target market: systems management essential to risk remediation, and services that close a gap in security expertise that too often frustrates effective security in this market segment.
Because of this recognition, EMA sees in Dell Layered Security Solutions one of the few approaches that actually merits the label of “solution” to one of the most daunting issues faced by the medium-sized organization: the multi-faceted challenge of security management, which only a truly coordinated approach can address.
