The market has dynamically developed in the last five year. The development of domestic production has favored this – from 2003 to 2007 several plants have been launched including another plant of the Russian market leader Rockwool in Vyborg; also many plants have been upgraded and their production has been increased as a result. Most of the Russian companies are local and bind to a particular region meeting its requirements. Some companies with higher production volumes meet requirements (usually not in full) of several regions or federal districts and don’t aim to cover the whole country. The other companies are export-oriented including occupation of their region and neighborhoods.
In volume terms the total market size is 10.8 mcm. In value terms it is 26 614 mln. rubles or about 740 mln. Euro.
Import is considerably inferior to domestic production. According to the expert estimation there are about 12% of import products in the market these days. Export is rather poor – only 588 thousand cubic meters were exported in 2007.
In 2008 the market volume is expected to increase by 10%. We can say for certain that the market growth will not slow down within the next five years. As the experts predict the next five years would be marked with the market large-scale activities associated with the takeovers of small companies by the market leaders. The growth rate of the wool sandwich panel market segment is more rapid if compared with the whole mineral wool market.
