Methodology and Coverage:

The ‘Food Habits of 1ndia 2009’ is a study based on approximately 800 interviews ( 4131 housewives representing their households and 3810 individuals) aged 18 - 45 years from SEC A, B and C households in 30 cities across 21 states, to represent food habits and attitudes of consumers in urban India (1 lakh plus towns).

This is supplemented with expert interviews with service providers in the food industry and secondary research including data and expertise from the authors vast body of knowledge on the subject.

The consumer component of the study consisted of face-to-face interviews using two fully structured questionnaires administered to individuals and housewives.

The service provider capsule consists of 25 plus expert interviews with professionals spread across the food chain: food and grocery retailers, manufacturing companies (supply chain and marketing), food services outlets (Including beverage outlets), cold chains etc.
