In the pre-crisis period, the market has grown rapidly, a lot of new companies and brands entered; in the end of 2008, the growth stagnated, most stores’ sales fell, the value of the USD has increased against the RUR, therefore, the market size in dollar terms has declined. According to forecasts, the situation in 2010 will gradually improve and for two or three years it will get back to earlier positions.

The Russian clothing market is dominated by products of foreign production and domestic producers account for only about 3.5% in value terms. A big part of the goods, imported by the largest distributors, whose market share accounts for at least two-thirds of the imported foreign jersey, is imported by companies that have their own retail network. In men's clothing market, companies which have their own retail network, account for more than 40% of imports, while in women’s - the market share of the largest distributors is close to 50%.
