UPnP and DLNA—Standardizing the Networked Home
In-Stat/MDR, July 2010, Pages: 41
UPnP and DLNA are the most significant frameworks for in-home media sharing among consumer devices. DLNA and UPnP have significant industry support with technology and consumer electronic giants, including Intel, Microsoft, and Sony among the leadership of both the UPnP Forum and the DLNA with hundreds of technology and content providers as members.
Through the inclusion of DLNA in Windows 7, In-Stat expects significant growth in the UPnP and DLNA market, with more than 1 billion units of DLNA-certified devices shipping annually by 2014. DLNA will see its largest volume in handsets, PCs, and digital televisions, based on the large volume of those device types annually shipped.
This report includes forecasts through 2014 of UPnP and DLNA devices by device type. Forecasted segments include: PVRs, STBs, DVD players and recorders, Blu-ray players/recorders, games consoles, digital media players, digital TVs, photo frames, cameras, storage, PCs, handsets, routers, and residential gateways.
