Alternative Healthcare Providers in the US
IBISWorld, June 2011, Pages: 34
New age: Greater public awareness about alternative treatments will aid demand
Alternative Healthcare Providers in the US
Achieving a healthy balance
Because of the industry's relative necessary nature, Americans who lost healthcare coverage continued using alternative healthcare providers – or even opted for them over conventional health care. Operators will continue to benefit from greater awareness and acceptance of these alternative treatments. Significant growth will likely be somewhat offset by the anticipated healthcare reform, which will enable more individuals to return to traditional providers. However, the industry is projected to experience a rise in demand over the next five years.
This industry includes establishments that are primarily engaged in providing health services that are not classified to any other industry, such as meditation, yoga or massage. These practitioners operate private or group practices in their own offices or in the facilities of others, such as hospitals, medical centers or patient homes. The industry does not include chiropractors; mental health specialists; physical, occupational and speech therapists; audiologists; or podiatrists.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
