Market Overview
Low-percentage Financing Schemes to Attract Customer Investment in UC Applications in the Asia Pacific Region
UC is the integration of various tools and applications used within an enterprise and with external partners for business communications. UC vendors in the Asia Pacific region are bundling most of the UC applications and offering them at competitive prices. After the economy began to revive in the later half of 2009, leading vendors started to witness better revenues. To negate the lethargy in the economy, vendors have had to build stronger return on investment (ROI) documents and collaterals and introduce low-percentage financing schemes to attract customers to invest in UC applications. “Video collaboration and mobility have the highest acceptance level,” says the analyst of this research. “These applications have more tangible ROI and are therefore easier to justify the investment.”
Demand for UC solutions especially for video and Web conferencing is poised to grow significantly. The ability of high-end videoconferencing solutions to act as a substitute for face-to-face meetings is helping enterprises reduce their traveling budgets and enhance employee productivity. Government was the leading and only vertical to have spent on UC in 2009. Government agencies were looking to adopt ICT to drive productivity within their organizations.
However, price erosion on equipment has led to shrinking profit margins for UC vendors and channel partners. Overall, the average line pricing has reduced to 10-25 percent due to greater discounts offered by the market participants. Budgetary constraints can be addressed by creating product bundles that appeal to a larger section of customers, especially medium-sized businesses. “Scarcity of in-house resources to manage IP telephony and UC products can be resolved by c-conducting free or low-budget training and proactively offering solutions over the managed and hosted environment,” concludes the analyst.
