Telecoms Software Professional Services Market Share Report 2009
Analysys Mason Group, Sep 2010, Pages: 90
For this report, the analyst has segmented the USD43.17 billion global telecoms software professional services (TSPS) market into the seven segments typically required in a transformation project’s lifecycle. In 2009, business consulting represented 6.1% of this market, design consulting, 8.9%; systems integration, 26.7%; custom development, 4.5%; outsourced operations, 22.2%; and hosted managed services, 11.8%. The remaining 19.7% came from services delivered by vendor to support their own telecoms software products and solutions.
Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) dominated the TSPS market, accounting for 25.5% of worldwide revenue, and positioning NEMs as the overall market leader in terms of supplier type in 2009, with a 34% market share. Global consulting and systems integrators (CSIs) represented 25%; ISVs, 20%; IT systems suppliers, 11% and regionals CSIs, 10%. Ericsson had the highest share, with 10.7% of the overall market, followed by Alcatel-Lucent, IBM, Amdocs, NSN and Hewlett-Packard (HP) with 8.8%, 6.9%, 6.3%, 6.0% and 4.3% market shares, respectively.
Vendors were the big winners, taking market share from CSIs, largely as a result of the communication service providers' (CSPs') strategies in 2009. In developed markets, CSPs focused on cost reduction, new business models and new services, while those in emerging markets focused on time to market and managing growth.
Knowledge gained in consulting and managed service engagements informed vendors of the requirements for developing their products. These engagements build a managed service partnership (MSP) between the supplier (vendor or CSI) and the CSP. Such a partnership allows CSPs to offload operational risks onto suppliers, while they focus on their core business.
The report provides an analysis of the market shares for TSPS by region, sub-segment, supplier type and supplier. It includes a comparison of the major suppliers, as well as a market share analysis for 18 leading suppliers. Short profiles of suppliers are also included. This market intelligence is useful for CSPs, network equipment and software suppliers, system integrators, venture capitalists and financial analysts.
