Gold 2010
Creamer Media, Aug 2010, Pages: 57
South Africa is currently the world’s third-largest gold producer, having been pushed out of the number one position in 2007, after over 100 years as the world’s largest contributor to global gold production. The country has several significant gold-mining companies, which have amassed globally recognised skills in the mining and processing of gold. Notably, the gold-mining industry in South Africa has been at the forefront of developing deep-level mining capabilities, as gold-mining companies in the country often find themselves having to dig to ever-increasing depths to continue delivering the yellow metal. This report examines the activities of selected gold-mining companies operating in South Africa and the rest of the world, and includes major producer, as well as some smaller operators and explorers.
