The Handbook of Maritime Economics and Business is the founding title in the Grammenos Library. The diversity of the subjects covered is unique and the results of research developed over many years are not only comprehensive, but also have important implications on real life issues in maritime business.

The Handbook of Maritime Economics and Business covers a vast number of topics in the broad areas of maritime economics and business, including:

- Shipping Economics and Maritime Nexus
- International Seaborne Trade
- Economics of Shipping Market and Shipping Cycles
- Economics of Shipping Sectors
- Issues in Liner Shipping
- Economics of Maritime Safety and Seafaring Labour Market
- National & International Shipping Policies
- Aspects of Shipping Management and Operations
- Shipping Investment & Finance
- Port Economics and Management
- Shipping Strategy
- Aspects of International Logistics

It is an indispensable reference book for apprentice and experienced practitioners in the maritime business world, as well as for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Handbook of Maritime Business and Economics has become an essential text book for maritime, Undergraduate, MSc and PhD level courses.

"With it's mix of academic analysis and more practical business-focused viewpoints and advice the updated Handbook of Maritime Economics and Business provides a valuable current view of key principles. As Prof Grammenos indicated, the dynamics of the underlying forces affecting shipping markets and finance in the eight years since the first edition are likley to mean that in a further eight years the picture could well have changed dramatically once again and in ways that are not immediately predictable."
Steve Matthews, Lloyd's List

"....There is considerable new material in the Handbook, from an analysis of freight rates fluctuations…to measures for controlling air pollution from ships… to a discussion of capital markets as a source in shipping finance. The range of shipping issues presented is certainly broad, not to mention thorough, from International Seaborne Trade and Shipping Investment Finance and Strategy, to International Logistics and IT. The Handbook, in short, is an important work of reference which will prove of immense value to everyone involved in the economic and business aspects of shipping."
An appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers.

Professor Costas Th. Grammenos, the editor, is a leading academic who has held a chair in Shipping, Trade and Finance at City University London's Cass Business School since 1986. He is founder of its International Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance (1983), and was President of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME). He was awarded a CBE (Hon) in 2009 for his contribution to teaching and research.
