LANDesk: On Its Own and Positioned for Growth in Integrated Systems, Security and Services Management
Enterprise Management Associates, Sep 2010, Pages: 4
LANDesk Software (LANDesk) will once again become an independent solution provider in the systems management, endpoint security and information technology service management (ITSM) marketplace. On Monday, August 23, 2010, the company announced that Thoma Bravo and Emerson Electric (Emerson) had entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by a private equity investor, Thoma Bravo. The deal is expected to close by September 30, 2010 for an undisclosed sum. LANDesk had previously been acquired by Avocent Technologies (Avocent) in 2006 and then absorbed by Emerson when it purchased Avocent in 2009.
LANDesk is now in a position to drive its own independent strategy led by CEO Steve Daly, a long-time LANDesk executive and general manager for the LANDesk business unit, with the benefit of a private funder focused on strengthening the company’s growth and overall position in the market. Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) sees this as a positive business transaction and expects the independence and backing by Thoma Bravo to provide LANDesk with the fuel it has needed to move forward in re-establishing its own unique footprint within the broader management marketplace.
